Laptops

If you really need it Copy Club can provide you with a company laptop that you can use while you work with us. The model will be dependent on your role and requirements.

Crucially, we only offer this when it’s absolutely critical and value you being able to use your own equipment really highly, if it’s at all possible.

The Copy Club will purchase a laptop up to the value of £650, excluding VAT. This covers the purchase of basic laptops. We recommend these two because when we researched it, they appeared to be the best value for money, however we are not prescriptive:

• Vostro
• Latitude

If you want a fancier model (eg. a Mac), because you are using it for home and work purposes, then the balance (excluding VAT), will be deducted from your next pay cheque (net of taxes and NI). (This employee contribution recognises that the laptop is likely to be used for both professional and private use).

In the event that you leave us, and want to keep the laptop, then you’ll be expected to pay back what the laptop is worth (using the approach below), from your final pay cheque. This will be calculated on a scale as follows (excluding VAT):

• 6 months after you bought the laptop: Purchase value
• 6 months to 1.5 years after you bought the laptop: Purchase value minus 33% (going forward, we will call this balance, the ‘remaining value’)
• 1.5 to 2.5 years after you bought the laptop: remaining value minus 33%
• 2.5 years after you bought the laptop: All yours!

The process for current team members:

1. In order to get the ball rolling speak to your line manager about getting a potential laptop, discuss your laptop symptoms and we will see if we can fix your current laptop before purchasing a new one eg if your laptop is running slow it could be that you have too many apps & files and just need a good old clear out to free up disk space.
2. If this has already happened and nothing changes and your line manager has approved you a new laptop privately then contact finance to arrange ordering one!
