Absence from Work

Whilst we want your time at Copy Club to be an important, rewarding part of your life, we strongly believe that it shouldn’t be your whole life! We love holiday and think it’s really important. We really encourage that you take it seriously and get some rest.

We also don’t believe that anyone can do their best work when they are sick, stressed, or overwhelmed. And we don’t want you to feel that you have to. We have worked hard to create an environment where you not only don’t need to feel guilty about needing some time off when you need to but are encouraged to take it.

In the event of any team member taking time off fraudulently under any of the absence policies, we will investigate, and disciplinary action may be taken.

Sickness

Everyone gets poorly and we want you to focus on resting and taking care of yourself. If you are unwell, please let your Line Manager know by 10am. If your absence continues for more than one day, please do keep us informed and let us know if there is anything we can do to help.

If your absence continues for more than seven days (Saturday and Sunday included) please speak to your doctor who may be able to provide a signed medical certificate for our records. This might say that you are not fit to work or may suggest ways of helping you to get back to work.

Whilst you are unwell, your Line Manager will keep in contact with you, your health and wellbeing is our primary concern and your Line Manager will make all decisions with this in mind.

If you are absent for more than four weeks, you may be considered long-term sick. Copy Club may at any time require you to have a medical examination at Copy Club’s expense or under the government ‘fit for work’ scheme. In cases of persistent repetition of, or prolonged absence due to sickness or injury, Copy Club reserves the right to terminate your employment.

During periods of long-term absence, holiday will accrue in line with our holiday policy.

Company Sick Pay

At Copy Club, we want to look after you while you are unwell and wish you a speedy recovery.

The Company Sick Pay policy effects anyone who has passed their probation period.

If you are unwell and provided that you have fully complied with our sickness policy, we will continue to pay you your full salary for 20 days (whether consecutive or not) in any rolling period of 12 months. This is intended to be generous because we really want you to rest when you need.

Any evidence to suggest that this policy is not being treated with due respect will be taken really seriously.

If you are off for more than 2 consecutive days we may ask for a doctor’s note.

Any time beyond these sick days will not be paid.

This is inclusive of your Statutory Sick Pay (SSP). SSP will then be paid in accordance with legislation in force at the time of absence, and is currently paid for a maximum of 28 weeks. This is £99.35 per week & you can read more about the guidelines here.

In the event of long term sick leave we will discuss on a case by case basis and do our upmost to support you.

If you have not yet passed probation then sick leave will be unpaid.
